The Smith Auto was a model of pistol used by the United States Army and United States Colonial Marine Corps during the Alien-Earth War.

Overview

The standard issue sidearm for the United States Army in the 2190s,[2] the Smith Auto was a model of pistol chambered for a type of 10mm caseless ammunition that was similar to the M309 round used in the famous M41 family of rifles, albeit less powerful. It could also use the M309 itself in a pinch, but was not built to withstand the forces of this round, and was liable to explode after 5-6 shots.[1]

The Smith Auto came equipped with a suppressor as standard,[3] and was fed via a 15-round double-stack detachable box magazine forward of the trigger. Models used by the USCM featured an LED ammo counter display, but the army models lacked this feature due to cost-cutting measures.[2] The pistol was considered a "softslug" weapon, and its standard ammunition was unable to penetrate the mesoskeleton of a Xenomorph.[4]
